Th Dictatorship and the Albanians, Blendi Fevziu in a discussion with the students of Beder University.
01 Shtator 2012
In the past 20 years Albanian historiography or reminiscence has tried only to denigrate the figure of Enver Hoxha, which according to me is not right. That was the declaration of the well-known journalist Blendi Fevziu during a conversation with the students of the Hëna e Plotë “BEDËR” University in an open panel on the topic “Enver Hoxha, the Dictatorship and the Albanians”.
Contrary to what we are accustomed to seeing every week, the renowned Journalist and publicist Blendi Fevziu, invited to an open panel at the Hëna e Plotë “BEDËR” University was in the role of the interviewee facing the students of this University.
In a discussion which lasted more than one hour, Blendi Fevziu answered students’ questions mainly associated with his last book, “Enver Hoxha”. Conceived as a conversation format, the panel served the students of the Department of Communication Sciences and the Department of Law to address Mr. Fevziu a series of questions about the book and about the country’s political topicality. Mr. Fevziu after expressing his acknowledgement for the invitation, emphasized that writing this book was an attempt to shed light on an important part of the Albanian history, on which there has not been written much these last 20 years.
Fevziu considering the figure of former dictator Hoxha as very complex expressed that the attempt to denigrate his figure from Albanian reminiscence, has not helped in clarifying the developments of that period. In the last 20 years, Albanian historiography or reminiscence, have only tried to denigrate the figure of Enver Hoxha. In my opinion this was a wrong thing. During the work, browsing and working with documents, I realized that he was a very talented person. But Fevziu said that he was an almost demonic talent that cost this country dearly.
Responding to students’ interest regarding the opening of files of the communist regime, Fevziu said that this process should have started a long time ago.
By providing examples of crimes committed during the dictatorship, Mr. Fevziu explained that people who participated in the persecution of innocent people should not serve in state positions. Finally he added that the figure and the period of Enver Hoxha requires more work in order to be studied and needs to be analyzed and seen in various aspects.
