Journalist, Alfred Peza in a discussion with the students of Communication Sciences
The cycle of open lectures " The student and the profession " organized by the Department of Communication Sciences this week welcomed the well- known journalist, News Director of Vizion Plus TV channel, Mr. Alfred Peza. He introduced the students with the recent developments of media market in Albania, as well as the issues and challenges that it carries.
Students asked him about the media-politics relationship and the reciprocal benefits between them. Mr. Peza explained, that despite politicization and media relations with politics, information manages to appear on the surface and to be served served to the public no matter how sensitive it might be for a particular political grouping. This, according to him, makes the media free, but not independent. Regarding the latter, he explained the criteria that is being used according to him for distribution of government advertising, where the media that attacks the majority hardly receive anything, while those closest to the executive make the largest profit.
In the end, Mr.Peza stressed how important it is for a journalist to have a very good knowledge of the field on which reports. "When the specialist doesn’t laugh at the news, the journalist has worked well , so knowledge and good use of terminology is an important element given the fact that you are writing for a wide range of readerst," he said.
