Develops First International Conference on Educational Sciences “Increasing Quality and the Challenges of Higher Education”
Facutly of Philology and Education at “Hëna e Plotë”(BEDËR) University in cooperation with the universities: “Aleksandër Moisiu” in Durrës, Prishtina university, “Fatih” University in Stamboll and the Center for Democratic Education, organized the first conference on Educational Sciences with the topic “Increasing Quality and the Challenges of Higher Education”.
Researchers and academics from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Turkey and other states referred on topics related to the challenges of higher education and about increasing the quality of this field. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of accredited institutions in the country, academics, researchers and other guests.
President of the Conference, at the same time Dean of Faculty of Philology and Education Dr. Ahmet Ecirli, in his speech thanked the participants for their participation and expressed the belief that the organization of this conference, in Albania, is an opportunity for researchers and academics from various institutions of higher education, to exchange ideas and experiences. “The aim of the conference is to contribute to improving the quality of higher education, and discuss about the possible solutions to challenges that this field of education face. I am convinced that the papers of the participants in this conference will be a valuable resource to be considered as recommendations for improving academic quality, infrastructure development and technology implementation in the field of higher education”- said Mr. Ecirli.
Meanwhile, in his speech before the participants, Rector of “Hëna e Plotë”(Bedër) University, Dr. Ferdinand Gjana stressed that “This conference is organized in a moment when, despite all the problems and difficulties in higher education, legislators and academics should try to create an education system with clear objectives that should fit the competitive labor market in terms of quality. We should all be conscious that this process is not very easy to achieve as it involves many actors and requires a certain time. For this process to be successfully implemented, it is necessary that the leaders of higher education institutions, academia, students, parents and politicians, to take an active role in it”. He also stressed the importance of focusing the activity of the university in three main pillars: teaching process, research and contribution to society.
The opening ceremony also welcomed by the Rector of “Aleksandër Moisiu” University in Durrës, Prof. Dr. Mit’hat Mema, who emphasized the importance of cooperation between public and private universities to advance research and knowledge exchange in order to increase the quality. During the conference sessions will be referred about 60 papers from participants.
