First International Conference "Spiritual Dimensions of the Humanities"
“Hëna e Plotë”(Bedër) organized the First International Conference "Spiritual Dimensions of the Humanities." The first of its kind in Albania, the conference brought together academics and experts from 13 different countries of the world like USA, UK, Italy, France, Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania, Turkey, Malaysia, Romania, Austria and Nigeria. At the opening ceremony of the conference were present important personalities of public life in Albania.
Among the special guests applauded the conference was Jozefina Topalli, Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, President of the Muslim Community of Albania, H. Selim Muca, Albanian Orthodox Church Archbishop Dr Anastasios of Tirana and Rrok Mirdita, Archbishop of Tirana-Durres. In his speech, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the University, also the chairman of the conference, Prof. Dr. Ajhan Tekinesh , thanked the participants for their participation in the first conference of this kind, focused on the importance of the spiritual dimension in the humanities.
He stressed that "Man has to achieve unity within him only when works spiritual skills and hears the voice of his heart and of his soul. It is impossible to eliminate the duality of perception of the outside world without achieving unity within us.Becouse the man looks th outside world and others by his inner window. Angry man sees everything feels wearing this. Also, the man, who is clinging to perceptions of the five senses and the intellect of his external senses has been accepted as the only criteria of truth is very difficult to distinguish the spiritual side of life and the universe. Hope that treatment with the human feelings, thoughts, morals and conscience, is to increase the impact of science on human and humane society. As a result will add the reputation of those precious sciences.”
Meanwhile in his speech held before the present, the Rector of the “Hëna e Plotë”(Bedër) University, Dr. Ferdinand Gjana stressed the importance of freeing the scientific and intellectual life of modern dogmatism. Dr. Gjana also focused on the need that has the society today to join spirituality and science.
“This conference designed and conducted by the Faculty of Humanities of the University was initiated with contrasting and disclosure of many ideas discussed and debated, in the past, the present and future of our society. Anybody with what will bring to this conference will contribute to and influence in giving some suggestions to resolve and clarify many issues regarding the role of the spiritual dimension” he said.
On the other hand, the President of the Muslim Community of Albania H. Selim Muca, Archbishop Dr Anastasios of Tirana and Rrok Mirdita, stress the importance of spiritual science perspective which comes as the value of faith and religion in modern societies. They stress the role of religious communities and the impact they have on the development of a more balanced society on the fields of faith and science.
Then word was given to the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Mrs. Jozefina Topalli who welcomed conference participants and thanked the organizers for such an important conference. She highlighted the role that religious community has in spiritual life of citizens and stood in the tradition of coexistence in Albania religious communities as a great value of the Albanian nation. Albanians are the only nation in Europe that protected Jews during World War II by Nazi genocide and it tells a lot about their spiritual dimension, "said Ms. Topalli.
The conference will include in academic discussion also experts from the fields of education, anthropology, social sciences, law, media and communications, sociology, psychology, theology and other fields related to humanities who will refer sessions of 12 and May 13, which will continue on the premises of the “Hëna e Plotë”(Bedër) University.
