Starts building of the New Campus of “Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University

“Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University, laid the foundation for the construction of new university campus in Sauk-Tirana. The ceremony organized on this occasion, was greeted by Prime Minister, Mr.Sali Berisha, Chairman of the Albanian Muslim Community Haxhi Selim Muça, Board Director of Sema Foundation Mr. Asim Budak, who pointed out the importance of this day to fulfill the mission of the university to be an institution of higher education with modern standards.

In his speech the President of Albanian Muslim Community, Selim Muça, said that the work done in a few years by university staff and its supporters, is the main reason that the university climbs the list of the best educational institutions in the country and beyond. He thanked the Albanian Government and Educational and Cultural Foundation "Sema" for the support they have given to the university by the time of its establishment.

While the Board Director of “Sema” Foundation, Mr.Asim Budak, after he thanked the participants for participating in the ceremony, said that the timing of the commencement of works on campus, best shows determination to move forward towards the consolidation of a modern institution that will serve not only to the students coming from Albania but also from other countries.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sali Berisha in his speech highlighted the achievements of the university in two years of its existence, considering the academic and research contributions as valuable to knowledge and education of generations. First of all, allow me, on behalf of the government, to convey to you the heartfelt congratulations for your achievement you have listed in a two-year arc by your great work, with your devotion you became a pan-recognized university, a university that develops on the basis of the most modern equipment and programs with about 18 programs, and till now has accepted students from 12 countries and nations.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the government, representatives of the diplomatic corps and rectors of Albanian universities, academics, students and parents, and many people coming from all cities of Albania.

Givens about the University and the New Campus

“Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University was founded in April 2011 by the Council of Ministers, through which granted the license for operating as an institution of higher education offering study programs of first cycle and second cycle. “Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University opened the doors to the first students on 3 October 2011, marking the beginning of the academic and research activity.

The University is organized into two faculties, six departments and 19 programs of study, in the first and second cycle in, Law, Communication Sciences, Islamic Science, English Language and Literature, Turkish Language and Literature and Educational Science, in two years of its activity , university counts about 500 students in 7 Bachelor programs and 12 Master programs. With students from 15 different countries and academic staff consists of professors coming from 8 countries, the university has consolidated a clear international profile.

Scientific research is one of the main pillars of the mission of this university. For this reason in the first two years of its activity, university has organized six international conferences and 3 national conferences. 250 papers presented and more than 300 references, from nearly 20 countries are an important contribution in the field of research. Learning outcomes for students of University crosses its borders.

Cooperation of “Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University with universities in different countries of the world, creates the possibility of obtaining student international experience through exchange programs. Only during the 2012-2013 academic year there are 12 students who continue their studies for one semester in universities outside the country.

The New Campus of the University

Investing in new university campus constitutes an important milestone in the journey of the university. This campus will serve you best to meet the objectives of being an educational institution with high standards in service to students and to community. Investing for the new campus reaches 20 million euro, along with laboratory facilities.

University campus will be built on an open area of about 10500 m2 and in its final stage will reach approximately 20 000 m2 indoor surface. The campus is designed as a space equipped with the most modern technology in order to offer great advantages to students in the conduct of their teaching, but also in pursuing social activities.
