Workshop Held with the Theme "Albanian Local Media facing Technological Challenges and the Reality of the Time"
On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, the Department of Communication Sciences at “Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University , in cooperation with the Albanian Union of Journalists and the Albanian Institute of Media organized a workshop with topic "Albanian local media facing technological challenges and the reality of time".
This topic has attracted the attention of representatives of 31 different media, local, national. During the meeting referred the Head of the Department of Communication Sciences at UHPB, Mr. Ramadan Çipuri, the French Ambassador in Tirana, Mrs. Christine Moro, Vice-President of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Public Information Mr. Mark Marku, Speaker of the Albanian Union of Journalists Mr. Aleksandër Çipa, President of the local television network Mr. Edmond Isaku etc.
During his speech Mr. Çipuri was focused on the situation in which local media is. According to him, media in general is facing a new technological reality, where the Internet is becoming a platform for all of them. "We live in a time when everything is united and gathered on the Internet, a common platform for all this media. Operators increasingly bring equipment with cheaper cost. This means that in a short future time in Albania, people will have access to the Internet and media services at low cost.
On the other hand, Mrs. Christine Moro, Ambassador of France after praising the organization of this event in this important day for freedom of the press, made a reflection on the reality of media freedom in the world, the problems that are often encountered by journalists to illustrate with examples from the French media market. Mrs. Moro was later stopped on issues related to media ethics as an important element.
Meanwhile the president of the Union of Albanian Journalists, Mr Aleksander Cipa focused more on the need to respect the norms of ethics and deontology of the Albanian media. He said that now it is the time for journalists and media executives to agree to sign a memorandum on ethics in Albanian media as an indication of willingness to improve the current situation.
Afterwards, the participants signed a memorandum prepared by the Union of Journalists. The memorandum emphasized the necessity of re-establishment of a missing ethical conscience.
