Concrete Steps to Further Expanding the International Collaborations
The Rector of HEI “Hëna e Plotë” Bedër had a working visit in two prestigious universities in Belgium that currently are amongst top 100 universities in the world , “Ku Leuvren” and “Vrije Universiteit”.
This visit was held due to the policy of international profiling that Bedër pursues both in collegiate level and the inter-institutional collaboration one as well.
The opportunities of cooperation in the field of scientific research, student or teaching staff exchange, organizing joint conferences or various academic activities etc., were amongst the topics being discussed between Prof. Dr. Gjana and the rectors of aforementioned universities, Prof. Rik Torfs and Prof. Dr. Paul De Knop.
Cooperation Agreement with the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”
In the framework of inter-institutional agreements, Beder University and the University of Bari, Aldo Moro, sign a partnership agreement.
The Rector of HEI Beder, Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana and the Rector of Aldo Moro University, Prof. Dr. Antonio Felice Uricchi signed the agreement.
The agreement between the two institutions encourages the following:
· Exchange on the academic staff
· Exchange on the students of first and second cycle of the studies
· Organization of joint researches and publications
· Organization of joint scientific conferences and academic seminars
Also, the delegation of the University of Bari led by its Rector, Prof. Dr. Antonio Felice Uricchio, during a visit held in Tirana that lasted 3 days, participated in several activities with the students of Bedër, to mention the discussion panel “The Individual, The Society and Sustainable Development: From Globalization to Glocalization”, the open discussion with the students and a bilateral meeting with the academic staff of Law Department of Bedër.
“The Individual, The Society and Sustainable Development: From Globalization to Glocalization”
The Law Department of Bedër University in collaboration with the University of Bari “Aldo Moro” organized today the discussion panel on “The Individual, The Society and Sustainable Development: From Globalization to Glocalization”.
Having welcomed the attendants and introduced the attendants with the importance of the discussion of this topic, the Head of Law Department, also the moderator of today’s panel, Dr. Ferdinand Xhaferraj, expressed with conviction that this meeting would be the first of a long and beneficial journey of collaborations between the two universities in the field of academic experiences, both in students and scientific research.
Law Department students represent Albania in the international competition “JESSUP”
Beder University Law Department students, represent Albania for the 3-rd consecutive year in the international competition “JESSUP” held in Washington, which consists in a simulation of a hypothetical disagreement case between the countries. All this hypothetical case is held in front of the International Court of Justice, a justice institution of the United States.
In the international round which was held between 27 march – 2 april in the USA, this year participated 132 teams from 80 different countries of the world, we also have to mention Beder University team among them, with the attached students and lectures: Albi Çela, Ermelinda Gjeci and Rajmonda Zhuta, Gentjan Skara and Eni Kokalari.
BJES’ classification in online indexing DOAJ
Scientific Journal, BJES (Beder Scientific Journal of Education Sciences), ISSN 2310-5402 (Online) ISSN 2306-0557 (Print), provided by Faculty of Philology and Education in Bedër University, is classified in online indexing DOAJ (Direction of Open Access Journal).
The contribution of Bedër in quality and innovation of the published articles, being fundamental elements in social sciences, was evaluated via this indexing.
DOAJ, being an online center, provides indexes, high level access, and open accesses for journals with an editorial board.

The discussion panel “The open society, democracy and education as means to fight extremism”
Bedër University in collaboration with the Union of Journalists of Albania organized the discussion panel “The open society, democracy and education as means to fight extremism”.
The speakers' panel, led by the Rector of the University Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana, consisted of: Mr. Blendi Klosi, Minister of Youth and Social Welfare, H.E.Mr. Bernard Fitoussi, the Ambassador of French Republic, Mr. Aleksandër Çipa, Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Albania, and Mr. Besnik Mustafaj, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, the President of the Albanian Forum for the Alliances of Civilization.
Also, in the activity participated representatives of different embassies accredited in Tirana, such as: the Embassy of the Republic of Greece, the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo, the Embassy of Switzerland, Russian Federate Embassy, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, the Embassy of OSCE, the Embassy of Libya, the Embassy of Romania, the Vice Chairman of the Muslim Community in Albania, Mr. Ali Zaimi, and other distinguished personalities of media and civil society in the country.
Having welcomed and thanked the attendants for participating the event, in his welcoming speech, the Rector of University Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana emphasized that extremism or terror have caused great tragedies that have led to immense loss of people’s lives as a crude attack upon our common values.
The symposium “The Universal Message of Muhammad pbuh”
The symposium “The Universal Message of Muhammad pbuh” was organized on occasion of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad pbuh by Bedër University in collaboration with Muslim Community of Albania.
The Muslim Community Chairman Mr. Skënder Bruçaj, the World Dedebaba of Bektashi Dede Edmond Brahimaj and the Rector of Bedër University Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana, who participated in this activity that took place at the university hall, also had their greetings on the occasion.
Meanwhile the speakers' panel lead by Mr. Veton Tulla, lector in Islamic Sciences Department of Bedër University, consisted of: Mr. Ali Zaimi, Vice Chairman of Muslim Community of Albania; Mr. Elvis Naçi, Director of the Islamic Call in Muslim Community; Mr. Sabaudin Jashari, Theologian; and Mr. Muhamed Sytari, the Mufti of Shkodra.
